—Part 1 References—

(~~please excuse the 2-year old art~~; this is from an old project where the idea for the city originally came from, and I simply decided to color the frames instead of redrawing so many references.)

The first four panels show the Inner City, while the other five show the Outer.

The Inner city is brighter, more festive, and cleaner. There are more waterways and the buildings are closer to the ground.

The Outer city is darker, dirtier, and less safe—especially for Inner City folk to be wandering off into. There is lots of graffiti, clothe lines, and strung-up lighting. There are many walking paths over the tops of buildings here.

The pathways over the city, as well as many of the wall territories are viewed as neutral ground; most people don’t go there unless they have specific business being there, yet still the inner city people tend to stay away from those areas above or around the outer city.

Yay for an idea on how the city really looks!

First off, I would say the city is a bit bigger than my drawings imply here; I mostly just wanted to set the idea for how it looks and to see what the tree is all about.

This tree is responsible for all the water accumulated in Acquariet; it seeps out of the roots in an inexplicable way, providing the community and vegetation what it needs to survive and then some. I would say there are many legends and theories for the trees existence within the city (I just haven’t sat down to think up any yet eheh)
Inside the shrine there are five rocks carved with the names of those passed away. Since Acqariet is limited in space, this was the easiest way to have a sort of ‘cemetery’ for the deceased. For the heroes, leaders, and truly remarkable legends of Acquariet, there are actual gravestones specifically for them planted around the tree roots. (No bodies are kept in the city, though.)

Over the tree is the central library.

On the second picture I’ve also included what the rock pillars throughout the city look like; they are used to help collect electricity naturally from storms. Most are hollowed out and carved with spiral stair cases to reach the top.

Airships such as the one shown are used for city government purposes only; transporting goods, trips outside the city for trade, construction use, etc.

Also a reference for the gondola girl’s uniform. There are four levels of worker; the basic (starting at red), two in-between classes, and then the highest level which is green. (Jade would be at red.)

Hello everyone! Apologies for the unannounced hiatus! Life came and took me over elsewhere. I hope to slowly revive this AU again, though! Starting with answers to some unattended questions! Next will come some setting references, and then I will attend to all the submissions I’ve received.

Also the Master Tag List has been updated.

I guess the biggest reason why I decided to make Jade a gondola girl is that she is, well, currently steering a boat in the comic! It felt fitting to me, especially since she’s always been guiding her friends.

Oh gosh, thank you! 8//8 Well, hmm… I’ve always been really good with settings; I love thinking of them and imagining what they’d be like! And then when I got into Homestuck just… it kinda jumped out at me as something I wanted to do—include them in this world, that is! >w< So I went with it! It’s been a process, and I think input has definitely helped it expand further. ^v^

Hmm I haven’t thought about the consorts yet. They may show up as pets, though. It’s something I’ll have to give more thought and see if they’d fit in.

The Uus will not be in this AU as of yet. I have thought about some ideas for a future story including the pre-scratch trolls, and if I’m still going strong by then, I will probably include the Uus at that time—and do designs for all of them. I am unsure if they will be as cherubs or..trolls, though? (It’s tough because I really like both designs… AAA!!) I’d have to give it some thought, and see how they would fit. As of right now, though, they aren’t included.

The Ancestors play the role as parent in this AU. Though they will be behind the scenes; there are no plans for them to show up in-comic.

Yes and no. She is behind the scenes, so never shows up in the comic. But her roll is an important one within the city.

Right now we’re one person away from opening the game! Our cast list can be seen here!

We are especially looking for Vriska roleplayers, and canonmates for most of the cast in general. The mods may reward new roleplayers with a castmate or two, as well.

Also! If anyone’s interested in Axis Powers Hetalia, we may have a Pirate/Conquistador-era Spain joining in the fun in the future.
